The air was wintry crisp, Gaetana’s Restaurant was festively decorated, the holiday music set the tone, and the crowd arrived right at 7:00PM. The aroma of great Italian food and the thoughts of an open bar made everyone ready to “get it started”. Everyone was handed a goodie bag from Casauri that was packed full of sponsor information and other goodies including full version of 2008 Trend Micro Software, the Salary Guide from Robert Half Technology, notepad and posted notes, audible book samples and much more.
Kevin Kennedy, Co-founder and CEO of Webgrrls International kicked off the festivities with a greeting for the Holidays and a toast to a great 2007 and to more success in 2008. He then said he had a special treat and introduced Trish Naudon Thomas, who was one of the original six women at the very first Webgrrls meeting here in New York City. Trish offered a toast to Webgrrls and to everyone in attendance. Kevin then introduced the hostess of the evening Nelly Yusupova, the New York City Webgrrls Chapter Leader.
Nelly welcomed everyone, thanked Frankie of Gaetana’s Restaurant and introduced the NYC Webgrrls Steering Committee Ameile Walker, Kori Burkholder and Kristin Vincent. She then immediately sparked everyone’s enthusiasm with the first of many rounds of raffles throughout the evening…and raffle prizes, there were many… and it was our sponsors who selected the winners after offering a gracious toast.
Bob Mathew from CatalystWeb selected the first winners of flash drives from Mimoco, Mike Green of Simulscribe was next in selecting the winner of the Webcams from Logitech, Michelle Cmorey of Robert Half Technology and Courtney Criswell from The Creative Group selected the winners of the 120GB MINI drives from Seagate, on behalf of Trend Micro, Onebox, and Audible, Kevin Kennedy selected the winners of the iFolds and Irisers from Mitais and the designer computer bags from Casauri, and a video iPod from Audible.com and just in the nick of time Sean Seibel of Microsoft arrived to pick the final winner of the night winning the new Zume Mp3 player from Microsoft…all of the prizes were a huge hit.
The crowd was amazing and between the raffles and toasts to success, everyone chatted, mixed and mingled and networked…but much of the excitement may have been about the prizes and the possibility of winning.
