Get Organized with Evernote + Networking meeting
Event date: January 22 2013
Posted by: Webgrrls Staff

The excitement was building as the room filled and NYC Webgrrls gathered for their first event of 2013. It was a night of networking and discussion, and the topic this month was Evernote.

"Let's just say--Evernote is my new BFF."
Liza Horan
Digital media strategy,

What's Evernote? Simply said, it is a virtual notebook for taking notes and collecting information for later use. Evernote is an amazing tool that synchronizes your life in realtime on all your digital devices.  Nelly took us on a live tour and shared how she uses Evernote to stay organized. Her thoughts and ideas, sources of inspiration, documents, and information are all recorded in this useful app.

"Nelly has successfully demystified yet another web tool. Within minutes of returning home, I had Evernote up and running across all my devices."
Kelly Grove
Interactive Marketing Manager, Quest Diagnostics

The key feature that makes Evernote so powerful is search-ability. You can instantly find anything that you stored by keywords, tags, and even location. Evernote also uses text-recognition technology to search for words in images and photographs.

Nelly also mentioned browser plug-ins, email, and third party tools that can be used to easily get information into Evernote.

Ultimately, Evernote is a powerful organizational tool, because it has very little structure and anyone can use it to make it fit their personal workflow. Try it out to see what Evernote can do for you!

Everyone was excited to learn and connect. After the discussion, we had our (NYC Webgrrls minute) 30-second introductions and went around the room giving everyone the opportunity to introduce themselves to the group and present what they need and what they can offer. We had top executives and budding entrepreneurs, web and graphic designers, writers and editors, and sales and marketing people, and others with plenty to give to each other. We then broke into the informal networking to make personal connections and exchange business cards.

"The quality of the presentation, the contacts I made, and the general friendly and supportive people there [of Webgrrls] will keep me coming back."
Lynn Berry
Insurance sales, Easy Choice Health Plan
