Technology and Communication = Great Wine, Food and Connections

What do technology and communication professionals have in common? After last Tuesday's networking event: great business contacts! The NYC Webgrrls Chapter teamed up with NY Women in Communications to host a networking and wine tasting event at a charming Italian restaurant, Scaletta Ristorante, on the Upper West Side. People from both organizations braved the snow, business cards in hand, to mingle and meet other professionals in related fields.

As a result of the two groups coming together, the room was filled with people from many different fields. On the communications side, there were PR specialists, journalists, and print designers, to name a few. And from Webgrrls, we saw professions such as digital designers, developers, and small business owners.

"An intimate room, GOOD WINE and Good Food...the gathering of a diverse group of professionals sharing information was exhilarating."
Michelle Liebowitz - Sales Management; ML Consulting

As people made their way around the room, they enjoyed a spread of cheese and hors d'oeuvres from Scaletta, and they sampled a mix of reds and whites from Conway Family Wines. Gillian Conway, the VP of Communications for the winery, explained how the this line of wines, called Deep Sea, got its name because the vineyard sits in soil that used to be part of the Pacific Ocean. She also said that the brand is new to New York and shared which restaurants will now carry the brand.

Webgrrls events always attract eclectic and talented people, but it was great to mix it up and have an entirely new group to network with. People left with new connections between people in both technology and communications--and a list of where to find a new brand of wines throughout the city.

A special thank you to Lush Life Productions for taking amazing photos of the event and help us document the warm and fun atmosphere.

See you on February 23 for the NYC Webgrrls Networking event.
