Portland had its own version of Cyber Monday this past week, only the real deal was the value of networking. Attendees of Webgrrls' newest chapter in Maine have already begun making connections, obtaining clients, and finding services–and it was only the second meeting! One can only imagine what potential there is for more...
"It was well organized, friendly, lively, and welcoming. It provided a supportive atmosphere for discussion, questions and concerns...No-nonsense but friendly approach by the team leader (Katherine P.) set the tone for the meeting. It moved along briskly and I learned a lot in a short period of time...Thank you. A great idea and I'm so glad Webgrrls has a Portland chapter." Laura Sewell, Copy Editor, Writer, Proofreader.
Monday's networking event was in the format of a Brown Bag Lunch Event, held midday at the office's of RE/MAX, thanks to the space sponsorship provided by Dawn Marston and her RE/MAX colleagues. The setting was professional, and the scene was intimate and personal, allowing for sufficient coverage of individual introductions and presentations.
"This was a great way to meet new people and to get better acquainted with those you have already met." Diane Morris, Document and Content Specialist.
Many of the attendees have had varied professional backgrounds, and most continue to wear multiple hats. Among the career titles represented were Copy Editor, Writer, Business Coach, Personal and Business Financial Specialist, Wealth Management Expert, Design Firm President, Document and Content Manager, Technical Publications Professional, Personal Offline Matchmaking President, and much much more.
"Everyone was happy to be there and enthusiastic about the possibilities." Amy Woodson, Off-line matchmaking, Affinity of Maine
Keeping with the spirit of the season, I hope you will all continue to support Webgrrls in 2010, share the joy, and spread the good cheer!
The next meeting will be announced soon by email and, as always, on the Portland Maine Webgrrls web site. Stay tuned and RSVP ASAP!
Happy Holidays to all!
