Become more productive with color coded folders

icolorfolder-logo.jpgI am always looking for ways to boost my productivity. One tool that I discovered recently that helped me navigate through my Windows folders is iColorFolder. It is an open source application that allows Windows users to assign custom colors to your regular yellow folder icons.  All you have to do is right click on the folder and select the color.

How does this tool help me be more productive? I color code the folders that I use most frequently so I can spot them faster.

In his blog post yesterday, Michael Arrington of TechCrunch talked about email communication crisis and our ability as human beings to be able to respond to all the email that we receive. He said “The volume of communication requests for most people today are far, far beyond what they can handle. Few people today respond to every communication they receive. And an increasing number don’t even claim to be able to read every communication they receive, let alone respond”.

I am happy to report that I have zero unread email messages in my Inbox. Here is my method for managing my Inbox to ensure that all of the messages that need to get answered do, in a timely manner:

How to integrate Google Analytics into your newsletters to better track their effectiveness

No matter what email marketing company you use to send out your email newsletters, you have the ability to view the reports. Some are better than others, but the basic reporting statistics tell you how many users opened your newsletter, how many clicked on a link, how many emails bounced, etc.

Google Analytics allows you to go a step further by allowing you to:

  • See what links people use to get to your site
  • What they did once they are on the site
  • And by analyzing the reports, you can learn how you can enhance your visitor experience on your site
