Install multiple versions of IE browser on your PC

As a web designer and developer, I constantly have to check how web pages look on different browsers. According to the browser usage statistics, Internet Explorer is still the most common browser that web users use.

2008 IE7 IE6 IE5 Fx Moz S O
January 21.2% 32.0% 1.5% 37.2% 1.3% 1.9% 1.4%

The biggest issue that I’ve been having is having two or three different versions of Internet Explorer running on the same machine. Although it is very difficult to do, it is not impossible. And three days ago, I discovered the perfect solution….

TredoSoft created a software that allows you to install and run IE3 IE4.01 IE5 IE5.5 and IE6, and IE7 all on one machine.

How it works

  1. If you don’t have IE7 installed, download and Install IE7
  2. Download Multiple IE installer (10.3MB)
  3. During the multiple IE istallation, you will be asked to choose which versions of IE you would like to install.
  4. Once the install is complete, you will have shortcuts to each version of IE in your Start->Programs menu

That’s it!

It has been working seamlessly for me so far.

Glad I ran into this article through geekgirlblogs. My partner wants to buy a separate Windows machine just for testing since we have all macs and just 1 windows (my laptop). I really hope this works out okay. Thanks.
