DHTML Color Picker tool for your website

I came across a really cool DHTML color picker tool that you can implement on your website for FREE.

What does it do and Why do you need this tool?

The color picker allows your users to select the color of their choice and “saves” that color in a form text field. Your application can then take the color value and save it to a database.

There are many uses for this tool. If you are in retail and want to offer customized colors of your products to your customers, you can use this tool to get the customer’s exact color choice. It can be anything….custom color shoes, paint, cars, paper…and the list goes on.

Why am I recommending this tool? It is very intuitive and VERY easy to use and works in all browsers that I’ve tested.

How does it work?

You set up a field with a text box. To the right of your text box, you can place an icon and/or text instructing the user to click on the image to pick a color (see example below). As soon as the user clicks on the image, a pop-up window will show up and will allow the user to pick the color. Once the user clicks the “x” at the bottom of the pop-up window, the window will close, and the color value chosen by the user will show up in the text box.
