How to subscribe to RSS Feeds
There are a number of ways to keep up to date with the latest blog posts on Webgrrls.com. You can subscribe to RSS feeds via an aggregator or via email.
What is RSS?
RSS is a technology that is being used by web users to keep track of their favorite websites. RSS stands for ‘Really Simple Syndication’. Many people describe it as a ‘news feed’ that you subscribe to. When you subscirbe to an RSS feed, you basically tell the RSS Reader to let you know every time the website you subscribed to is updated.
How to Use RSS
The first thing you need to do is Get an RSS Reader. There are many feed readers with a variety of features. The ones that I use are Google Reader and Bloglines.
Subscribe to RSS Feeds using Google Reader:
- Go to: reader.google.com
- If you don’t have a google account, click on the create account link. Otherwise, login using your username and password.
- Once your account is created, you can “subscribe” feeds in two ways:
| When you login, this is what you will see…(click on the image to the right to see the google reader page layout with section explanations) | ![]() |
Subscribe to RSS Feeds using BlogLines Reader:
- Go to: www.bloglines.com
- If you don’t have a bloglines account, click on the sign up now link. Otherwise, login using your username and password.
- Once your account is created, you can “subscribe” feeds in two ways:
| When you login, this is what you will see…(click on the image to the right to see the google reader page layout with section explanations) | ![]() |
Don’t want to Use an RSS Reader? You can receive updates via Email.
At the top of our left hand sidebar there is a field where you can enter your email address and get a daily email with a summary of our latest posts. You can unsubscribe at any time and your email will be kept private and not used for any other purposes than to send these daily updates.
